Police and Law Enforcement News
Saturday, October 6, 2012  11:59 a.m.

On June 21, 2012 a 14-year-old girl got up early, went to check on her mom and made a tragic discovery: she found her mother laying in bed and not breathing.

The young lady kept her cool and immediately called for emergency assistance.

West Long Branch Police Officers Laura Osborn and Tyler Brennessel arrived on the scene along with Sgt. James Gomez and were greeted by the very upset young woman.  She directed the officers to her mother's bedroom on the second floor.

The officers quickly assessed the woman's condition and began administering CPR.  Simultaneously, they set up the defibrillator unit and used it on the unresponsive mom.

Eventually, they saw signs of life.  The First Aid Squad arrived and rushed the woman to Monmouth Medical Center.

Ultimately, the woman made a complete recovery.

This past Wednesday the three officers were invited to a West Long Branch Council Meeting where they received formal commendations from their agency.

But those commendations probably paled in comparison to the warm hugs they received from the victim who also attended the meeting.  Nice job guys.
