This is not something you see every day.
The superintendent of the New Jersey State Police, Colonel Rick Fuentes,
was pulled over on the Garden State Parkway in Paramus last Friday
morning. He was stopped by a trooper for doing ten miles over the
speed limit.
Colonel Fuentes was not issued a ticket and went on his way.
At some point afterward, Superintendent Fuentes contacted the State
Police Office of Professional Standards, reported the stop and requested
that he be issued a summons.
The article reporting on the incident, which appeared on
NJ.com, quoted a state police captain as saying the colonel would
also receive a written reprimand as a disciplinary action.
You have to give him credit. If you're going to hold your people
to a high standard, you should hold yourself to the same standard.
And while there absolutely nothing requiring that he go that far, it is
refreshing to see. It also sets a good example.
The colonel also reportedly later complimented the trooper for his
handling of the stop.
