No Parole for
Cop Killers!

Bulletin:  On March 9, 2010 the Parole Board announced that cop killer
Sundiata Acoli was denied parole.  Thank you to all who helped.

New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster - Murdered by Sundiata Acoli and Joanne Chesimard, aka Assata Shakur
State Trooper
Werner Foerster
1938  -  1973

Stop the Release of Cop
Killer Sundiata Acoli

Werner Foerster never heard of the New Jersey Devils.  He never heard of the Brendan Byrne Arena.  He never knew of Governors Christie or Corzine or even Whitman.  In fact, the last governor he heard of was William T. Cahill.  That is because it was Mr. Cahill who was in office as New Jersey's governor on May 2, 1973.  That was the day Trooper Foerster was murdered.

Campaign to Stop Parole of Convicted Cop Killer Sundiata Acoli

Support for this effort is growing.  We would like to thank those who have given their support by helping to get the word out on their websites.  More are expected.

It was a bit before 1:00 a.m. when Trooper Werner Foerster backed up Trooper James Harper on a motor vehicle stop.  They were on the New Jersey Turnpike in East Brunswick.

The car had been stopped for an equipment violation.  What the troopers didn't know was that they had just stopped three very dangerous members of the Black Liberation Army.

The driver was a man named James Costan.  You may have heard of the front seat passenger.  Today, she goes by the name Assata Shakur.  We all know her as Joanne Chesimard.

And in the back seat was a man named Clark Edward Squire.  Today he goes by the name Sundiata Acoli.

It wasn't long before the stop went bad. You see, going to jail was not part of the plans for this trio.  Instead, they would forever take away a dad, a husband, a colleague, and a friend.  Rather than face whatever they perceived they were facing, they opened fire.  When the smoke cleared, Trooper Foerster was dead, and Trooper Harper was seriously wounded.

The driver, Costan, died during the incident.  The passenger, Chesimard, is still cowering in Cuba.  The fellow in the back seat is up for parole this month.

And so reveals the reason for this article.

Clark Edward Squire cannot be released from jail.  We cannot allow this to happen.  We owe it to that young veteran of just three years who was killed at just 34-years-old.  Sometimes we have short memoires, and sometimes we are busy, but we need to come together for this.

In 2003, NJLawman.com visitors waged a massive campaign to keep this miscreant in prison, and it is time once again.  Everyone reading this needs to help spread the word.

His supporters have already launched a campaign supporting parole.  We need to get moving now!

What You Can Do

  • Have the webmaster of your agency or organization post this information on the front page of your website!
  • Help get the word out!  Email the link of this page to everyone in your address book:  http://www.njlawman.com/sundiata-acoli.htm
  • Write a letter to the parole board voicing your opposition.  Create your own letter or use the sample letter provided below
  • Print out copies of the letter and pass them around at work.  If necessary, have other officers sign and return them to you right there, so you can mail them yourself
  • Post notices of this situation with this link on other civilian and law enforcement forums and message boards
  • After sending your letter, call Governor Christie's office at 609-292-6000 and voice your opposition.

More publicity needs to be given to this, and letters need to be written to the parole board.  If they think that no one cares, they are more likely to grant parole.

This week we will be emailing every major organization, agency, and entity to help spread the word.  Please help and do your part.

Your Comments

My deepest sympathies to all of the New Jersey State Police and especially the family of Trooper Foerster.  I have found myself investing more and more of my free time following up on this case.

Watching the Youtube videos of this person makes me wonder just why she takes a chance with her freedom exposing it for the world to see even in a "police state" such as Cuba. Getting her out of Cuba is the easy part...getting her back to the U.S. is a little more difficult.

Your lost Hero reminds me of all the right reasons to take a stand against all odds...a few of us are still perfectly willing to do so for your cause as well.

Sincerely,
Mark Heather

I was working the night Werner was killed, It was an execution style murder and the person/s responsible should never be allowed to walk free in society, Ms. Chesimard should be hunted down and executed in the same way she took Werner's life.

NO cop killer should ever be released, this kind of scum should never be allowed to walk the streets

This low life should never be released from prison. He was given a life sentence and there should be no argument. It is simple life (until death) in prison.    Capt.George Kirschbaum

-Ret. Englewood Cliffs NJ Polide

I think that your association is stupid because the guy served is time; WAKE UP Nazi! The old man pay already, what do you want from him? You know that the cop try to kill him and he was faster than the dump cop. Come on; you really think that we don't know that YOU and your supporter are racist!!!!!! We will defend him and if he died in the prison; I can promise you reparation for all of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!What kind of Nazi cop web site is that????????? All police informant thinking like that; injustice over injustice to promote RIGHT! this website need to be view by FBI. Oh I forget, their are probably on your team.

NJLawman.com Response
"The old man paid already," or he's innocent and was set up?  Every day you have a different shtick.  You guys need to pick a story and stick with it.

I'd like to salute all who ensured that Clark Squire will not be paroled at this time.  What troubles me more is the fact that the New Jersey Parole Board would actually consider this cold blooded killer for release.  I recall Squire and Chesimard's trial where criminal defense attorney and all around low life, William Kunstler, actually argued that Squire and Chesimard acted in "self defense" when they gunned down Trooper Foerster on the NJ Turnpike.  The absolute arrogance of a member of the bar arguing to a jury that a heroic Trooper's death should be abrogated, marginalized and nullified still troubles me to this day.  That insult was exacerbated by Governor Corzine who signed a bill into law just before leaving office that did away with the death penalty while allowing those convicted of the intentional murder of law enforcement officers to apply for parole after only four (4) years of incarceration! This asinine act  turns logic on its head but it proves that Corzine and the liberal democrats in the political arena are not the friend of law enforcement so matter what they preach.  Rest in peace Trooper Foerster, justice has been done...for now.

Sergeant Michael P, Barry Port Authority of NY & NJ Police Department

We will bring justice to the scumbag or the scumbag to justice. One way or another justice will be served. Great work NJ Lawman and Brothers in Blue. Your next Joanne.

-Thin Blue Line

As a retired Trooper assigned to the Detective Bureau on the NJ Turnpike, I was one of the many investigators assigned to this case.  This individual should not, under any circumstances, be released from prison. We, in law enforcement, all know what happened with Joanne Chesimard who was housed in a low risk facility such as Clinton--her cohorts facilitated her escape from that facility and she never got to pay for her crimes.

-Carl Carabelli, NJ State Police Retired

Although a man has served time in prison he needs to prove to all who serve on the parole board and several psychologists that he is remorseful and that he no longer has those feelings of killing people in his heart.  1. Killers don't change.  2. The family of the life he took is forever changed. 3. He needs to be monitored all the time and we do not have the resources for that. 4.  The bible says to his life should be taken for the one he has taken.

If a man steals you are to cut off his hand... READ THE BIBLE.

Sorry, cop killers or any killers should only have freedom , when they can give the person they killed life back ! ...

-Thomas Hickey

One of the only efforts that separates us from criminal tyranny is an effective law enforcement agency. If they feel worthless, they will become ineffective. The result will be a society that becomes hostage to wealthy, ruthless criminals.

To free the murderer of a police officer sends a signal to these criminals that it is OK to ignore the law. They will thrive, do we want this?

-Eric Kenly
 Bangkok Thailand

Clark Edward Squire A/K/A Sundiata Acoli must never be released.  Rather then receiving the permanent death penalty, he received life in prison.  Life in prison means just that.  The sentencing judge never intended that he be released.  He must not.  The circumstances of the untimely death of Trooper Werner Foerster must never be forgotten.

-Lt. Mundell, NYPD Ret.

Let us all support our police officers and not let anyone who has killed a man-in-blue go free - send a message that we will not tolerate such disregard of those who stand in harms way so we can feel safe not only in our homes but when at work, school or play!!!

To release this murderer would be the greatest injustice possible to the family of Trooper Foerster. By releasing this murderer, Trooper Forester's family will be forced to relive the pain and suffering that the years gone by have helped to lesson. This murderer and enemy of our country deserves nothing but to spend the remainder of his life in prison. I only pray that he will be able to share a cell with his partner Joanne Chesimard.

God Bless Trooper Werner Foerster and may God watch over his family. GOD BLESS AMERICA

-Sgt Louis L Spagnola
 Paterson NJ Police Dept.

It makes me sick to think that our, such great criminal justice system would even think to let this piece of $#@% back on the street.  Anyone who kills a law enforcement officer should not make it to jail anyways (morgue).  But the officers who put this piece crap in jail did the right thing (legally) and now he gets a chance to kill again if he gets out.  This shouldn’t even take one second to figure out to lock this a$$hole away forever or hang him, its free.  Put it on pay-per-view and all the proceeds go to the fallen officer’s families.  I’ll pay for that!!!!

-Concerned Officer in Florida

Let this scum bag continue to write all his dumb poetry while he rots in his cell. Hey Acoli, continue to love that 8X4 cell because that'll be your coffin in a few more years.

-J. Jones (SCO Essex County Dept of Corrections)

If this cop killer gets released it will send a message to every police officer that their life is less important than the thugs on the street. He must not be released.

-Harry Bustretsky
 Retired NJ State Park Police

Officer Foerster no longer has the day-to-day experiences that Sundiata can experience.  His family would certainly want him to be alive and to be able to communicate with them on a daily basis.  Sundiata has those amenities.

Hold on everyone...are we sure we are not all "acting stupidly" as our Commander (vomit) in Chief so eloquently put it?  No, we are not.  We are already considered second class citizens, but we must start demanding some respect from the political weasels that run this show.  Re-open the case and put him to death.  Then get that @$#@ in Cuba back here and do the same.

-Sgt. R. Melnick

A friend and retired police captain forwarded this to my attenetion. As much as I am a liberal, I went to Rutgers in the 60's, there should be no tolerance to allow a cold blooded terrorist cop killer to be free. This is a person who can not and will not repent. Keep him locked up.

NJ is in the process of “pension reform” which would reduce pay and benefits for NJ police officers, and ultimately override our collective bargaining agreements.  Taking money and benefits from our officers is one thing, but taking the life of a brother officer is inexcusable.   As part of the law enforcement community, I hope that the parole board remembers brother Trooper Werner Foerster and gives him the justice and respect he deserves.

-Ken Brown Wall Twp PBA #234

Cop killers, judge killers and prosecutor killers must be treated differently than ordinary murderers.  If not, our society would be no different than the lawless countries around the world.  Pleaee write to the parole board and contact Gov Christie.  We owe it to Trooper Foerster.

-Sgt Dan Kellogg, Wyckoff Police Dept.

Trooper Foerster lost his life in the performance of his duties.  If you take the life of a Law Enforcement Officer, you should have paid the same penalty a life for a life.  The fact that this Murder is up for parole is a mockery of NJ's Criminal Justice System.  If you kill a Law Enforcement Officer in Cold Blood then you should never see the light of day beyond the bars of your cell.

John P. Mc Niff
NJDOC, Retired Lt.

Dear Sir/Madam:

The thought of the person who murdered Trooper Foerster being released is truly disturbing to me as a citizen and a former New York City Detective.  I was a member of the NYPD during the B.L.A. crusade to murder Police Officers and spread their words of racial hatred.  To think for one minute that this person has paid for his crime is unthinkable.  Trooper Foerster should be enjoying his family and freedom, all of which were taken from him.  Please take a look at the long list throughout the United States of law enforcement personnel who were targeted by this group and murdered for no other reason than they took an oath to protect us.  In my humble opinion, this man does not deserve parole.  He was convicted of his crime and does not deserve a place in this society of law abiding citizens.

Sincerely,
-Frank Shea
 Ret. Det. NYPD

I am a retired Army Command Sergeant major and also a retired Melbourne, Florida police officer.  It is my strong opinion, that this person should have received the death penalty, but since he did not, he should never be allowed to walk as a free person on this earth again.

Jesus Martinez
Melbourne Police department, Florida

The same month Trooper Werner was murdered...I became a police officer in New Jersey. I will never forget his murder. There has not, and there will be never be any real justice for this man, especially with Joanne Chesimard is still being protected by the political scum that rules Cuba. Never let this murderer see the light of day!

Sgt. Fred W. Connolly Jr. (Ret.)
Moorestown Township Police Department, N.J.

I am amazed that our criminal justice system ahs gotten so flexible that we would even consider letting a cop killer go free.  After 13 years in law enforcement I am a staunch proponent of the death penalty and the unmitigated carriage of justice when it comes to the untimely and unnecessary death of men and women who stand in the gap to protect the public.

I hope this will stand as a reminder to all that America them Law Enforcement Professionals give their lives for you.

-Kirk Selby
 (Former) Correctional Officer/Sgt.
 El Dorado Coutny Sheriff's Office

I have been in Law Enforcement for 36 years.  Before that I was with the F.B.I.  In that time, I have seen several officer die in the line of duty.  No person, who kills a law enforcement officer, should be allowed to be released on parole.  This would be the biggest insult that a law enforcement officer's family would have to bear.

-Sgt. Joe Amici
 Atlantic County Sheriff's Office

The B.L.A. were the terrorist of the 70s.  They should be dealt with as such, and never be allowed to see another sunrise.

As time passes so do the memories of what has happened and how it has impacted peoples lives. I am sure the families effected by this event have never forgotten and neither should we. No matter how much time passes we must never allow anyone to forget what was done and that those responsible must continue to pay forever.

-Gary S Rosenfeld, Chief (retired)
 NJ Dept of Corrections

I served 25 years as a Police Officer for the Borough of Paulsboro (Gloucester County) and the way I see it is this murder should stay in Prison and die like the animal he is. Joann Chesimard should be sought out captured or better yet, executed like Tpr. Foerster was.

It is time for permanent sentencing for "Cop Killers". There is no Parole from death; hence, there should be no Parole for these killers.

Our Federal and State Politicians need to gets some guts and make new laws to deal with these animals.

My thoughts are with the Foerster's Family and his Brother Troopers!!!

-Sgt. Richard L. Hershey, II (Retired)- Paulsboro Police Dept.

This animal, (and I'm sorry to offend the animal kingdom), needed to be put to death years ago. The opportunity for parole would have never come into play.

-Sgt. Eric M Conova, retired
 Washington Township Police Department

It is so important that we show more support for our brother members.

It is obvious that more and more our profession is being looked down on. The men and woman who chose to do this job take on great disadvantages in their home life and professional lives. This great officer never thought that he would be the one to make the ULTIMATE SACRIFICE. We must continue to honor our brothers and sisters more now than before because society is less respectful to authority and thinks nothing of judging us on what the media says about us.

God Bless This Soldier for his contributions!

Parole? Are you kidding me? Why don't you ask the family what should happen to him? Why wasn't this maggot put to death or taken out? He should have been made an example of by getting the needle.  Unfortunately that didn't happen so leave him in the prison to rot. And can somebody go down to Cuba and bring Chesimard back so she too can do her time?

-C.W. NJDOC ( Retired )

I do not know what is worse, hearing that another cop killer may be released into society, or that hear in N.Y. we have an Attorney General who is about to run for Governor is the son of a Governor who pardoned a convicted cop killer. I believe we have two missions, {1} keep the killer of Trooper Foerster in jail. {2{ Keep Andrew Cuomo out of office.

-Bruce M. NYSCO.

I don't see why we keep spending our taxes keeping him alive. He should have a death sentence we all make mistakes but he should face the consequences.

You  should be pissed when any murderer gets out, not just those that have killed police, I know I am.

I was in high school when this happened.  He should not be released and stay in prison for good

Thanks to our NJ politicians & Gov. Jon Corzine, NJ no longer has the "Death Penalty", just giving Criminals the right to be paroled & live after a brief term in Prison.  This new governor should bring back the death penalty & this time USE IT!!!

Are you kidding me...parole for cop killers. Say it ain't so. Keep him locked up.

-Bill Booth, Investigator (Retired)
 21st Judicial District of Colorado

I remember the B.L.A. days very well. Our job at the time was to back up radio cars as they went on jobs. Particularly when Foster and Laurie were murdered after serving in the Marine Corps in Viet Nam and being on the scene. It was a very bad time for Police Officers in those days and now they want to parole Acoli while these Officers are just a memory to us. He was sentenced to life in prison and that's where he should remain.

To Trooper Foerster and his Family and all Police Officers who have survived those difficulty times and to those who serve today a Big Semper Fi.

And to the members who I had the Honor of serving with during my tenure in law enforcement I want to say thank you for the Brotherhood we shared. Those of us who have worn the uniform of a Police Officer understand that we never forget our comrades who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. "Remember Cardillo" and don't ever forget....

John Meyer
Former Marine-Ret/Det-NYPD

Please extradite Chesimard! NO PAROLE FOR COP KILLERS! Or any other murderer for that matter! Get her back in the United States and give them the death penalty! An eye for an eye! A life for a life!!

-Diane K. Strain

Our anger over the murder of this trooper should be no different, no less than our anger over an officer killed today.  The officers of today have a moral obligation to stand up for the officers who came before us.

No parole for cop killers, ever!

Sgt. Andrew A. DeMuth
Freehold Borough Police Department

This coward, I will not mention his name in the same breath as Trooper Foerster and Trooper Harper.

This coward, deserves to die a horrible death in his cage.

Pokergod

NO PAROLE. The troopers family received a life sentence that tragic day, so now he should without parole.

God Bless you brother Trooper Foerster.

I was on the Seaside Heights PD when this happened, a year before I became a Trooper. I remember the funeral and seeing Forester's family.  No killer of a Trooper, Patrolman, Agent, or Deputy should ever go free, let alone be considered for parole.

-DET I J.D. Stolar #2990

The reason Chesimard escaped is because she was not sentenced to death quickly.  (NJ needs to use the death sentence asap)

Is Chesimard really in Cuba? Who knows maybe she is still in NJ reading this page. Chesimard needs to be brought to justice and receive the death penalty. If she is in Cuba I would volunteer (no need for no extra pay) to be in the task force that goes there to capture her. I speak Spanish and would blend in with the population.

As far as the guy with multiple names he should be sentenced to death because he is a high escape risk and not let go free. NJ has been soft on criminals for to long and not using the death sentence.  He should be put to sleep as he poses a danger to the COs that deal with him. He should me made an example of what happens when you kill a Cop.

NJ needs to tighten up its laws and put tougher punishments especially for incidents like this.  In other states these 2 would have been sentenced to death quickly, and we would not be worried about them anymore.

Again NJ needs to make the system work stop being soft with criminals who come out and commit worst crimes than the did before being incarcerated.

With all the budget cuts in NJ he should be killed and save tax dollars on human scum. I hope his release gets stopped.

-Former FLPD
 Former PC CO
 Veteran US Army(OIF)

Take this opportunity to help stop these killers. I recently asked for help on another cop killers upcoming parole and received over 12000 LETTERS TO THE PAROLE BOARD.  This will help if we all do our job...Bill

Hmm, first New Jersey does away with the death penalty. Now we have this thing possibly getting out. Ah, New Jersey. What's next?

Printing and sending my letter right now.

-Sgt Edward McCarthy 548
 Camden City Police Dept
 Camden, NJ, 08103

The least we can do is fight for justice on behalf of someone who lost their life fighting for ours.

If he comes out free there is a high chance I would say about 90-99% that he will kill another Law Enforcement Officer just to prove 1 more time what happens when cop killers are out and about wandering free.  His future after being convicted should have been 1. death sentence; 2.life in jail. (none of this good behavior BS should apply to this guy).

He killed an on duty officer not just any common citizen.  Since there is a high risk that Law Enforcement Officers will be shot at while performing their lawful duty it should not be looked as the killing of a regular citizen. The punishment should be  much heavier to discourage criminals shooting Peace Keeping Law Enforcement Officers. Just like killing a K9 dog carries more punishment than killing a regular dog.

-Officer: Allan Torres #777 NJSPP

He has been given more life than he should have received.  We in NJ pay for this man who should receive the death sentence.  He deserves it for what he did.  He took a life and should relent his.

I was a young pup in law enforcement when Trooper Foerster was MURDERED. I have never forgotten.  This man choose to end the Troopers life and destroyed countless others. He should not be allowed to walk the streets and enjoy anything. He should live in misery for the rest of his life.

-Lt.R.M.Petty, (retired)No.Bergen P.D.

Go ahead and cut him loose, send him to Tennessee and we'll show him how we do things down here! What was it the Florida Officer said was the reason he stopped shooting?? "I ran out of bullets."...

Why is parole even an option? Is this murderer going to contribute to society in any way? Most likely not, he took a life for no reason and deserves to rot in prison. This trooper will never get to walk the streets again and neither should this killer.

-Ptlm. J. Gorto BBPD

I strongly believe that he should rot in jail for the rest of his life.

-Det: R. Burke, Vineland Police Department.

Killer, Sundiata Acoli, deserves hell. How dare it even be an option for this inhumane dirt bag to receive parole. Hearing about this incident makes anyone sick. If we don't want our state governments to look pathetic around the world, keep him in jail!

Keep him in jail.  Its not fair for this officer or his family for this criminal to be let out.

I as a law enforcement officer in the State of New Jersey or any other State take an oath to serve and protect. That was what Trooper Foerster was doing protecting his fellow trooper and the citizen's of this State. Plain and simple Edward Squire oath was he was not going to jail along with his cohort's. Troopers Foerster and Harper's oath complete my tour and go home to my family. Edward Squire was convicted and sentence he can go home to his family and embrace them. Tropper Foerster cannot, plain and simple no parole.

-Officer J. Cruz # 772 New Jersey State Park Police.

The gift of life

When we enter this world - the gift of life – endless opportunities await.  Certainly, outside influences and upbringing affect development but once adulthood is reached we are all responsible for our actions.  We all choose a course of action that dictates who we are and what we will be perceived to be.  New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster made his choice by entering a career in law enforcement.  He was and will forever be perceived to be a good person who enjoyed his choice in life – protecting others in the face of extreme danger – being a State Trooper.

However, three persons on the night of May 2, 1973, all of whom chose a different path in life, decided it was time for Trooper Foerster’s to end.  He was murdered without hesitation or regard for his gift of life.  This is an action that has no compensation.  Once life is removed no further action can replace it.  The law enforcement community, family and friends, supporters worldwide will never have the void filled – the loss of Trooper Foerster.

His loss can only be best served by forcing those who murdered him to forever contemplate their actions in a prison setting.  Mr. Clark Edward Squire disregarded Trooper Foerster’s gift of life thereby condemning his own to a life of incarceration.  He made a choice and now deserves to be held without parole until his gift of life ends.

Detective I Edward Rufolo #5783
New Jersey State Police

I was in High School in 1973 and graduated several weeks later.  I did 27 years with PAPD and never forgot the assassination of Trooper Foerster and the brutal wounding on Trooper Harper (He was left for dead and crawled away for help)

Squire was involved with killing cops for years before the Foerster and Harper Attack, two young Cops in NYC 9th Pct. were gunned down in I believe 1971 by the racist BLA, their names were Foster and Laurie.  The two killers hid at a safe house and Squire lived there. This gutless, murdering swine and his cohort Chesimard deserve to rot in jail.  I believe they will, however after 911 "Always Honored, Never Forgotten" became the words that members of my Department drew on to give us the energy to go forward. Trooper Foerster and Harper will never be forgotten.

Please take yourself, your family and your friends and your brothers and Sisters in Law Enforcement to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC.   Every year the week leading up to National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial day is Police week. Make the trip and give Thanks to our honored and dead.  Trooper Foerster Name is among the Heroes.

Always Honored, Never Forgotten. God Bless.

-John F.Gilburn Jr.,  PAPD(ret)

Do not parole Squire. He had no mercy for Trooper Foerster and deserves none for himself.

-Lt. (Ret.) Rich Angley NYPD

It would be an absolute travesty to let this low life out of jail.  He took the life of one of our civil servants. Mr. Foerster was denied his right to life, this scumbag should not see the light of day.

-Chris, OB, NJ

When he was convicted the people spoke, the judge carried out the sentence. He did not show compassion for the officer why should we show him any now.

-S Wall, NYPD retired

If someone kills a law enforcement officer they have absolutely no regard for the life of anyone in society. Killing a person who is simply doing their job is an atrocity. The thought of parole for this disgrace of a person is unimaginable and it would be an absolute disservice to the family, the New Jersey State Police, the residents of New Jersey and the law enforcement profession as a whole.

-Off. Christopher Merk (Delray Beach Police Dept, FL.)
(Former Auxiliary Police Officer, Nutley, NJ)

It is insane that he should even be considered for Parole. Will Werner Foerster ever see the warmth of the sun? Will he ever see the snow fall? Will his loved ones ever get to embrace him? Will he get to watch the things that he loved and dedicated his live for, ie. freedom, happiness, the RIGHT to live not in fear, the Right to see others grow old and enjoy every minute with them? NO he will never get to do any of these things, and neither should Clark Squire.

Stand by and do nothing, then you can not complain if he is freed. Stand by and let the scum know that they can take a life and not worry that their actions may cause them to rot in jail. Stand by and do nothing as simple as print this letter, put a .43 cent stamp on a envelope and mail it, to Thank a hero for putting his life on the line. Stand by and do nothing, then shame on you.

-S.L.

I was just a young police officer at the time of Trooper Foerster's assassination. Several times a week I pass over the bridge dedicated to his memory and think of the vile, vicious, brutal, terrifying ordeal Trooper Foerster endured. As I recall, he had come to this country as a German immigrant. He loved this country so much that he decided to become a citizen...not only did he become a citizen, he became a New Jersey State Trooper to show his gratitude for being allowed the privilege of becoming an American citizen and served faithfully in his chosen profession.

Unfortunately, there are elements in our society who believe that they are above the law, have no respect for that law and will use their lack of respect for the law and this society as an excuse for their anti-social behavior.

Such is the case with Clark Squire, who has chosen a pseudonym, probably in an attempt to disassociate himself from the hideous crime he committed, and now wants to be released into the society he condemned and violently demonstrated his contempt for by attacking an decent, innocent symbol of that society.

If he is returned to that society there is a very high probability based upon his previous actions, his adoption of a name consistent with his previous anti-social behavior and his sociopathic bent, that he will inevitably assassinate another decent, law-abiding citizen, who may not necessarily be a member of the law enforcement community. I strongly urge the parole board to deny this sociopathic personality the freedom he so strongly desires as an expression of this society's refusal to accept such a violent, vicious, hateful sociopath back onto its streets where he will probably kill again.

I retired from the Port Authority of NY & NJ  P.D  after serving 23 yrs. Prior to that I served 6 yrs with the Newark P.D.  This pile of human waste deserved to die for the murder of the trooper, let him rot in prison then in hell.   Thomas Moore  retired 2002 PAPD

Society of the past would not have even considered such a vile proposal, as to parole someone who had killed a police officer. What has happened to this modern society? What has happened to people who do not appreciated their protectors? Killers of any human being should never receive any sort of pardon.

The very thought of never being forgiven for such an act, at one time, was a deterrent in itself. Lord grant that this animal rot in prison.

Don Hayek
Ret. Sgt. Ramsey NJ Police

I remember the day.  I remember having only at that time being a police officer for a year and a half.  I can remember thinking how awful it must have been for Trooper Forrester, wounded and trying to crawl on the highway and being executed by these homegrown terrorists.

I know this guy will tell the parole board what it wants to hear that he no longer a criminal that he has been rehabilitated, that he is not a recidivist, that the system has worked for him and he is a fine outstanding citizen.....who is waiting for the moment that he has a gun on his person and is stopped by a police officer....what will the parole board say then ....its not their life or the widow that is left behind with children to support.  Maybe just maybe if the parole board is held to answer for the release and then when he proves he is a recidivist, that the system does not work.  The parole board members who would even think to allow parole could be incarcerated with this slime bag the second time around, and question themselves why they authorized parole to a cop killer.

I strongly object to the release of Clark Edward Squire AKA (Sundiati Acoli). This man should spend the rest of his days on earth locked up never to see the light of day. We can not allow the parole of someone who executed a police officer to ever walk free again.

-Lt. D Higgins

Never, ever release anyone convicted of killing a law enforcement officer. The only way they leave prison is in a box.

-Bill Hedin

I am a retired police detective from The Port Authority of NY and NJ, I served the people of NY and NJ for 31 years of public service. This criminal belongs in jail for the rest of his natural life. Squires committed a crime against all the people of the great state of New Jersey as this Trooper represents all of our citizens in our society. Please keep this criminal in jail for the rest of his life and spare the citizens of New Jersey the anguish of this criminal loose in society.

-Detective Anthony Fusco (ret)

If this man is release, it would a slap in the face not only to Trooper Foerster and his family, but to myself and every Police Officer and State Trooper throught the Country. This Man Must stay in Prison.

-M.P.M.

The article and the letter do not mention that Trooper James Harper was also shot and wounded by these people. Clark Squires should never see the light of day.

-Warren Ferry - NJSP, Retired

NJLawman.com Response:  You're right, and we apologize.  We've written so many articles on this miscreant Acoli that while we did mention Trooper Harper's presence, we did omit the fact that he was shot and seriously injured.  We amended the article to reflect same.  It should also be mentioned that Trooper Harper was honored as the Trooper of the Year for 1973 for his bravery and actions during the incident.

Do not grant parole to this cop killer!  People who side w/Chesimard state that a trooper shot her. This is a slap in the face to every cop in this country. it shows no remorse and no regard for life. Squire was in the vehicle & took part in this assassination whether directly or not.  A significant life could have been spared and was not, why should an insignificant life be spared now?! let him rot in prison!!!

-J. Torres
 Retired cop

I blame the governors who, with a swipe of a pen abolish the death penalty, but will come to the funeral of a police officer killed in the line of duty and pretend they care; just as New Jersey's last four governors have. I will be sending a letter to the board.

-Capt. Joseph Sarnoski, Retired Lyndhurst Police Dept.

All too often our officers make that ultimate sacrifice, but Trooper Foerster's murder has always remained my thoughts, he was executed as I began my career in law enforcement.  The Black Liberation Army were and are nothing but cowards who took pleasure in the murder of this young man.  Squire belongs six feet under, but until then must remain in jail where he can never harm another innocent person.  Chesimard is next, someday she will be bought back to answer for her crime.  May they all burn in hell.

Michael Beltranena
New Brunswick Police Department, Retired

As a retired member of the NJSP I must object to this piece of garbage even being considered for release.  He has proven to be a predator of the worst type our society can produce.  Since he avoided the death penalty let him rot in jail and hopefully die some horrible death while he is confined there.

Don't let him out.  The thought of allowing Parole is ridiculous!!!!

I strongly object to convicted cop killer, Clark Edward Squire, from ever being granted parole.  He should remain incarcerated for life.

As time goes on, law abiding people will forget Werner's death and this makes it easier for the libs to enpower their cause for the release of scum like this. The only way we can win if we keep up the fight for Werner and all the others how have died in this premature and heroic way.

REMEMBER CARDILLO!

-VB Ret. Lt., NYPD

One of the times as a New Jersey State Trooper that I'll never forget, Werner was a nice guy and a good family man. HE WASN'T JUST SHOT DURING A ARREST, HE WAS EXECUTED AFTER HE WAS DOWN. This scum bag along with cohort Chesimard should never see the light of day. Its unfortunate that there should be any debate on his future except where to dump the body...

It would be a disgrace to release this or any killer of Police officers

-Capt. William Brush

As a former NJ State Trooper, Army Veteran and tax paying citizen of the USA I encourage you to NOT parole Clark Squire also know as Sundiata Acoli for his killing Trooper Werner Foerster without mercy with deliberate malice. Trooper Foerster was doing his duty to protect us, with honor. Werner's children and his wife lost a father, husband and the State of New Jersey lost a good man.  Please do NOT allow this parole to occur.  This man Clark Squire also know as Sundiata Acoli is a ruthless killer who can NOT give back the life he took so deliberately and must spend the rest of his life in prison for that vicious act.

Thank you.

-Joseph Kochis

I remember the day that Squires snuffed out the life of a brave trooper doing his duty. There is no reason on this earth that Squires should go free. If he rots in prison so be it.  He deserves to die.

-Lt. Tom Mc Creight ret  NJSP

It stands to reason, that anyone who kills an individual, particularly a law enforcement officer, can automatically wave farewell to the civilized world and be prepared to make prison a permanent home.
Al Chestone, Retired FBI Agent, River Vale, NJ

What really makes me sick is this ANIMAL is being treated like a king in prison! He has better access to health care than most Americans. We should be talking about his execution date instead of his possible parole date. God bless Trooper Foerster...

-Det. Catli (Ret.) P.C.S.D.

I remember the case of what should have happened is what happen here in FL.  A cop killer wound up with 36 rounds in his body, and the Sheriff when asked why 36 rounds His answer was we ran out of ammo.

This parole hearing should a death sentence the same one he give the Trooper, and bring closure to this waste.

Some times in life your actions can never be made right and you must pay the price for them. This is one of those actions for which there is no parole no matter what. This is an action for which there is no taking back. I was a New York State Trooper when this occurred and remember it well to this day.

-Inv R L Butterfield

I am a North Carolina State Trooper, and even though this happened 3 years before I was born and 12 hours away, I still have an opinion: The day the State of New Jersey placed this murderer in jail instead of on death row is the day they spit in the face of "ALL" law enforcement officers. In no way, shape or form should this terrorist be paroled from prison. Anything less would be rubbing their spit in our faces! Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.....Matthew 5:9

Trooper MJ Hastings

This sub-human miscreant Squires should've been exterminated.  Even to consider letting this lower than animal out of prison by the parole board is beyond reason!  Keep him where he is until he is carried out in a box.  And let's hope and pray that Chesimard will meet her JUST reward!!!  I'd like to express what I truly feel--but I can't here!

Murder of anyone is unforgivable....murder of a law enforcement officer is disgusting.  He should rot in jail and never again be free.  Freedom in the US is based on integrity and good will...this scumbag has neither.  Do NOT release him....EVER!!

Allyson Hans-Scalora

I can recall this incident very well, I was on the job in Newark at the time. There should only be a LIFE sentence without parole for any one that shoots a Police Officer. Definitely No release or Parole for
Sundiata Acoli.
Pete Cipollini, Ret. ESCSO.

It's time for Cuba to give Chesimard back.

I remember this murderous incident very well, as it was in March 1973 that I became a sworn member of the Jersey City Police Dept., and I was, and still am, a resident of Old Bridge, NJ, the same hometown as the Foerster family who lived a short distance from my home.

Everyone was alerted to the description of the two Black Liberation Army members who managed to escape, and I remember the sense of urgency that rocked law enforcement to see the two captured or killed if they chose to fight it out. Of course, they didn't and after Squires' capture in a East Brunswick woods and later Chesimard we were relieved, but only for a short time.

The two were convicted and sentenced, but Chesimard was assisted in her well planned escape from prison and fled to Cuba, where she remains to date. Needless to say, all of law enforcement wants her back here to die in prison. As for Squires his fate should be no less.

I would ask NJLawman to post the names of Squires' supporters so that we again can refresh and remember who the domestic enemy amongst us is.

No release for any cop killer, ever!

-Dana Sabatino

We must stand hard against all cop killers, regardless of the situation or demographics involved.  The country must know that if you kill cop, you WILL face life in prison without the possibility of parole, or maybe even the death penalty. The message must be sent. We must protect the people that protect us.

No cop killer ever deserves parole. They deserve to rot in jail. Let us not forget the ultimate sacrifice these officers made.

May God let them rest in peace.

-Sgt John Bartolotta-Essex County Sheriff's Office

The murder of anyone is unforgiveable. The murderer of a police officer who puts our lives above his or her own life to protect us must be punished forever.

-A Trooper's Dad

I am from the N.J. department of corrections and gave 25 years of dedicated service protecting the people of  NJ from incarcerated, convicted felons, keeping them off the street , and I truly believe that in my opinion anyone who commits the intentional murder of a law enforcement officer sworn to protect the public should never be released from detention.

And if the N.J parole board does release him it shows how are system of justice has failed.

-Lt.Corey Kalucki ,RET N.J D.O.C

This story portrays one of the most cowardice and selfish acts one man can ever perform on another and should never be forgotten.  To forgive is difficult, but possible, but to allow one man to receive his life back, while one man's life was taken away, is incomprehensible.

I absolutely agree there should be no parole, this shouldn't even be a thought.

You kill a cop you should be shot on the spot.  You deserve no rights.  You deserve no mercy.  You deserve death. Police put their lives on the line everyday to ensure our safety and those of us that love them, live with pride, dignity and fear every day that one of these worthless cowards could end their lives.  So for the cowards that succeed, they deserve nothing in this life except death.  Stop wasting my tax dollars for their jail time, the prolonging of their useless lives.

-Beth DeLacy
-proud & lucky civilian to love a cop

I am not a police officer but I am protected by them every day. I strongly oppose the parole of this murderer.  We need to honor those men and women who risk their lives so that my family can live safely and productively.  We for the same objective need to punish those that put at risk the lives of the innocent.

The man is a murderer. and must remain in prison until death. Parole for this crime is not to be given ever.

He should have been put to death in the 70's.  Then we would not be having these concerns.

See what happens when you do not have a death penalty and enforce it.

If the public keeps voting more Liberals in office we will see more of this, Any Cop killer should be executed, any Lawyer who defends a Cop killer is just as worthless as the Cop killer.

-Ret. Det. Sgt. M.C. Sheriffs Fugitive Squad.  Lou Sacco

He must remain in jail. The act which was committed cannot be paroled away.

-Gabe Piomelli

I am a Newark cop living in South River.  I drive over the Werner Foerster overpass twice a day.  The LEAST that I can do is send a letter, and make 80 copies for every other cop in the North District.

-Jim Stewart Jr

I am a retired NYC police officer and a Court security Officer for the United States Marshal Service from 1987 to 2009 in Newark NJ and now in Florida. I would like to see this man spend the rest of his natural life in Jail no parole. He should have the same rights as he gave NJSPO which was none. He should never see the light of day as a free man

I spent 25 years as a cop in East Brunswick, retiring as Director of Public Safety/Deputy Chief in 2005.  I'm now the Chief of Police in Boulder City, NV.  My FTO when I was a rookie was Bob Zygmund, who actually captured Clark Squire in an East Brunswick swamp several days after the murder.  May Clark Squire rot in hell....

It's a shame society has to write letters seeking protection from such obvious threats. Life means life...no parole, no do-overs, not let me out so I can do it again crap.

Enough is enough, keep this psychopath where he will not harm another innocent human being.

-F.X.Kowalsk

This man needs to remain in jail. We must do more to bring Chesimard back to the USA for her punishment.

I have been studying this case for 9 yrs. It was cold blooded murder, and the killing of another human being is not a natural thing to do and is wrong. It is a character flaw, unless it is self defense. And I don't believe it ever leaves a person after they have committed such an act. So, they may have the propensity to do it again.

I think if they let this man out, he has a 50 percent chance of doing it again, to another police office and that is a danger to society.

My opinion.

Parole Board Letter

February, 2010

New Jersey State Parole Board
PO BOX 862
Trenton, NJ 08625

Dear Sir or Madam,

Please accept this letter as my strong opposition to Convicted Cop Killer Clark Edward Squire (AKA Sundiata Acoli) from being granted parole in his upcoming parole hearing.

As you know, Squire murdered New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster back in 1973.  Trooper Foerster was just 34 years old and left behind a wife and family.  He had only been with the State Police for three years.

The utter selfishness in taking the life of another is one of the most heinous acts in any society.  This is amplified greatly when the life taken is that of a police officer, someone who has answered the calling to protect and to serve.

If Clark Squire were to be released, it would be depriving Trooper Foerster, his family, and his colleagues of the justice they deserve.   No one asked Squire to pull that trigger.  He did it himself and must face the consequences.

We send police officers out each night to protect us.  When one is murdered, we owe it to him or her and all other officers to make sure that justice is done.

The killing of Trooper Foerster destroyed lives.  It was so unnecessary and so wasteful.

It has been thirty-seven years since that day, and we owe it to Trooper Foerster to keep his memory alive and his killer in prison.

So, please accept this letter as my strong opposition to the granting of parole for Convicted Cop Killer Clark Squire.

Sincerely,
