Township of Hamilton Police Department

Hamilton Township
Police Department

The Township of Hamilton is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer from candidates who possess a valid New Jersey Police Training Certification or a New Jersey Police Training Certification from a New Jersey Alternate Route Police Academy.

The applicant must be a citizen of the United States, a resident of New Jersey; able to read, write, and speak the English language; be sound in body and health; be of good moral character and have not been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude; possess an Associate’s Degree or 60+ credits in a matriculated program from an accredited college; possess a valid New Jersey drivers license, and undergo written testing, drug screening, psychological testing, and oral interviews. Residency preference will be applied to the process.

Excellent benefit package includes paid medical, dental, eyeglass, and prescription, personal days, sick days/year, holidays.

The position involves shift-work, and demands good judgment, courage, physical fitness and skills, fairness, empathy, and a commitment to the community for which we work. We are a police department committed to providing quality police service that meets community expectations, and to continually assessing our successes and failures, with the goal of improvement. This is not an easy work philosophy. You can expect challenge, scrutiny, and change.

The Township of Hamilton insists on the highest standards of personal integrity, honesty, and moral character in its police officers and in all its employees, and a doubt about your willingness to adhere to those standards is a reason not to apply.

Apply to the Office of Chief of Police, Township of Hamilton Municipal Building, 6101 13th Street, Mays Landing, NJ, 08330 between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Deadline for applications: April 2, 2012. EOE

New Jersey State Chiefs of Police Study Guides are available for purchase at the police department for $20.00.
