Jersey City Police Officer Tony Vlachos, 39, will appear in the next season of Survivor.

Tony works out of Jersey City's North District and has been with the department for 12 years.

Going into its 28th season, Survivor is one of CBS's most popular reality television shows.  This season will be filed in Cagayan, a providence of the Philippines.

CBS announced that the 18 competitors will be divided into three tribes: "Brains," "Brawn" and "Beauty."  Those groupings, the network said, "reflect the distinguishing qualities that people bring to the game and test whether there is any truth to the pre-conceived notion that that certain characteristics will help you win the game."

Asked about his strategy, Tony said, "I'm going to bring everything but honesty, honor, integrity, loyalty -- I'll save that for back home."

When asked about essentials for the island, Tony replied, "Cigarettes, coffee, and liquor. I don't smoke or drink coffee or liquor, but I would love to bring those items with me just so that I can barter with my tribe mates! You know at some point in the game they would even give up immunity just to have a little taste of these items."

Tony is married and has a daughter.
