An Op-Ed piece is a writing expressing an opinion of the writer.  Contrary to the shorter letter-to-the-editor submission, an Op-Ed is more of an essay.

Op-Ed pieces do not have to be of the same opinion of this website.

Below are the guidelines for submitting an Op-Ed piece to NJLawman.com:

  1. Submissions must be well written, clear and organized.  NJLawman.com holds itself to a high standard when it comes to writing quality.  We cannot publish something that falls short.   Having said that, if your piece is clear, organized and presents a well-considered viewpoint, we can help with the writing.
  2. Do not submit anything in all capitals.
  3. All submissions are subject to editing.  We will not change the author's position on an issue, but sometimes we must clarify a point to better prepare the piece for the reader.
  4. It should contain 500 to 750 words, but we will accept shorter submissions.
  5. Please refrain from including profanity in the piece.
  6. This is not the venue for personal attacks or attacks on any law enforcement agency nor organization.
  7. Please ensure that the facts, dates, quotations and other relevant information is accurate.  We will verify this information.
  8. NJLawman.com reserves the right to publish or decline to publish any piece that we feel is not appropriate for the NJLawman.com website.

When you are ready to submit, paste the text of your piece
into an email and send it to use.  Click here to email us.
