Vegas Police Facing New Challenge: Swarming

Police and Law Enforcement News
Sunday, October 29, 2006 3:21 a.m.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have been dealing with a somewhat new issue in recent weeks.  It's a practice called "swarming."

Simply, large groups of mostly teenagers pick out a victim and launch a vicious collective attack.

Several of these and similar attacks have occurred in the greater Las Vegas area in the past month, and police are closely monitoring.

In the most recent attack, an employee of MGM was targeted for no apparent reason and severely beaten.  The incident was caught on tape by area security cameras.

So far, only one arrest has been made, but police are hoping that by releasing the video, more of the actors will be identified and brought to justice.
