Three New Jersey Corrections Officers were injured during an altercation which occurred this past Monday.

The incident took place at the Albert C. Wagner Youth Correctional Facility which is located in Bordentown.  In contrast to its name, the Wagner facility houses adult inmates between 18 and 29 years of age.

According to NJDOC Spokesman Matt Schuman, without provocation, an inmate came up on an officer and punched him in the face.  It took several additional officers to subdue the suspect, and two of them were also injured in the fracas.

In all, three officers were transported to Robert Wood Johnson.  Two were treated and released, and the third was released the following day.

NJDOC is not releasing information regarding the injuries sustained or the names of the officers or inmate as the incident remains under investigation by the Special Investigations Division.

The inmate was moved to the maximum security facility, New Jersey State Prison in Trenton.
