An emerging and disturbing trend in the world of hip
hop fashion is the fake bullet proof vest or fake body armor.
Simply, it is a garment which
simulates the shell of standard law enforcement body armor but is
just made out of Velcro and fabric.
Recently
reported by PoliceOne, evidence of this alarming news can already be
found in stores and on the Internet.
The website Wearhiphop.com is selling
the online for $29.99.
This particular model is called the
50Vest, and it's marketed with the rapper 50 Cent wearing it in a
trademark picture.
The disclaimer for this fake bullet
proof vest reads as follows:
Of course it's not
real bullet proof . It is lastest fashion now-100% wind & water
proof with mad velcro stripes all over the vest.
The absolutel stupidity of a product
like this is obvious, and it's only a matter of time before it
contributes to the death of someone wearing it.
In many states wearing body armor is
illegal, so this will also lead to unnecessary confrontations
between police and patrons of this garbage wearing it in public.
