"The first badges purchased by the Wichita Police Department were ordered from the Wichita Novelty House on November 28, 1888.  The City authorized a payment of $19.50 for the badges of the 22 member department.

The current badge of the Wichita Police Department is a Entemann-Rovin Co. # 154R and has been in use since 1953. These badges are not available for sale or trade, even to officers of the Wichita Police Department."
